IHF {Photo Challenge | Fall Splendor}

I kind of love the I Heart Faces photo challenges each week – they always have a super fun theme for the week. This week is all about Fall Splendor and that is something we can totally get behind! Fall is our favorite! When I was searching through some of our Fall photos I remembered one that Andrew took of Daisy and I on his birthday adventure. We went for a little hike and cooked a piece of meat over a spit with my dad. It was the perfect way to celebrate his birthday!

I just love everything about this photo! Here are a few more lovely Fall photos from our season this year.

Repose

I am completely in love with double exposures and circle prints. There is something magical about both of those styles and they both draw me in so much. With that being said, I decided to try and combine the two and I’ve created a few images that I really really love! When I saw what came of my little creations I knew I wanted to share them but I wasn’t sure how. When I showed them to Andrew he sat on the couch with me and just stared at them. And so our fine art line was born!

We’ve decided to call it Repose. These images are some of my absolute favorites and they depict places and things that are so very dear to my heart. My goal is for someone to look at these and fall into them, to get lost in them. To have a moment of repose when they see them.

We are really glad to have a community of awesome friends and clients that will celebrate this new adventure with us. It’s exciting to keep going down this path and growing our photographic taste and style.

If you’re interested in purchasing one of the above prints please feel free to email us thefoxandowl{at}gmail{dot}com and we’ll discuss the details. Thanks for sharing this with us!

Helping Another Small Business Owner

Friends, we have some news.  We have  hearts for helping others and we’ve always wanted to use our business to do that. For us giving back to the community or being able to help someone reach their dreams whether through a photo shoot or monetarily has been a big goal.

We’ve decided to partner with Kiva and support a small business owner. If you’ve never heard about Kiva it’s worth checking out. Here are a few words about this non-profit via their website:

We are a non-profit organization with a mission to connect people through lending to alleviate poverty. Leveraging the internet and a worldwide network of microfinance institutions, Kiva lets individuals lend as little as $25 to help create opportunity around the world.

When searching through the website we found John Gichuhi. John is a small coffee and dairy farmer in Kenya. He needs to buy a water tank in order to provide water security for his animal’s due to the massive drought in Kenya. He has been farming for 20 years to support his family, a wife and 8 children. He’s 66. His story and his face spoke to us in a way that we can’t put words to. We want to support John by loaning him money for his water tank. He needs $625 and he’s raised about half of it.

This is where you come in. For each photo shoot we book in November and December 10% of the profits will go to a loan fund for John. When you partner with us you’re also partnering with John and helping him get one step closer to reaching his goal. So, not only do you get super rad photos you help John be able to provide water to his animals. Water. Something we have in abundance in our area but something that we don’t really give a second thought.

We’re really excited to get started on this with you guys as our clients! If you’re intersted in booking information you can contact us via email: thefoxandowl{at}gmail{dot}com, the phone: 828.283.0439 or you can look for us at Panacea, we’re there a lot.
